Somatic Stem Cells in the Endometrium

Resumen:
The human endometrium has cycles of growth, differentiation, and regeneration. In that respect, the concept that endometrial stem cells are responsible for the regenerative capacity of this tissue was proposed many years ago. Recently, the cells that present features of somatic stem cells have been identified in murine and human endometria where the niche seems to be located in the stromal and epithelial compartment of the basalis layer.
